Between slam and poetry, he moves with ease, blending both with captivating subtlety. While his rhymes resonate with passion, his journey is rooted above all in reflection.

Joanito Martin, also known as Rwanito, a Mauritian slam artist and rapper, first gained attention in 2016 during the artistic event Porlwi by Light, performing on the Street Music stage.

In 2017, he performed at a thematic concert at the Institut Français de Maurice. The following year, he took part in the national day celebrations, performed at Kaz’Out showcases (2018), and won second place in the Creole Speaking Union slam competition.

In 2019, he released his first single Tempête des Îles, featuring Lionnkklash, accompanied by a music video directed by Jean Daniel Villier.

In 2020, he collaborated with El Tabla and Filip Peros on the project Desam Ansam by Twögether. Between 2020 and 2021, he continued performing and appeared on several television programs.

In 2024, he was invited as a jury member for a slam competition organized by the MBC and joined the Étoile en Herbesessions to further develop his craft. He also performed at the Fet LaMizik concert at N’JOY alongside Mika Ramsamy, Samuel Laval, Ansley Michel, and others.

In 2025, he took part in the Rezidans ANSAM Moris, an engaged artistic residency bringing together seven artists to create a five-track EP dedicated to social change.

Today, Rwanito continues his journey with a committed style of writing that blends reflection, emotion, and Mauritian folkloric influences, reaching an ever-growing audience.
